Places to visit

This is the spot for street fashion, used clothes shops (mostly stock from America), coffeeshops, a few interesting bars and restaurants, music venues, tattoo parlours, etc.

Highlights:
Pizza Bar Fullhouse
Micro Pig cafe Mipig
TakoTako King Americamura (Open evenings. Not great for kids as more of a bar feel)
PC and Retro Bar Space Station (age 20+)

Close to Amemura. Fashion boutiques, furniture stores, cafes.

An area where the focus is on repurposing old buildings to be used as cafes, little studios, galleries and vintage apparel. Definitely worth allocating at least half a day to, and a short walk from Umeda if you also have things to do there.

Highlight: Planet Plus One. An amazing little indie cinema showing mostly English or silent movies. Great for watching a film that you normally wouldn’t in a characterful and atmospheric environment.

(Warning: Avoid the cafe 'Salon de AManTo'. It’s become a popular instagram trap but the service and drinks are much, much better in the plentiful other cafes in the area.)

Not too far from Nakazakicho, we have one of Japan's longest shopping streets and has a mix of modern and traditional shops, with some stores offering used books and collectables. In the evening, Tenma is an excellent area to grab some traditional food, with plenty of izakaya, yakiniku, kushikatsu, yakitori in an incredible atmosphere.

Great for vintage video games, old toys, model kits, UFO catchers, as well as one of the best places in western Japan for manga. The Osaka version of Tokyo's Akihabara.

Similar to Nakazakicho but the interesting bits are a bit more spread out. Lots of quaint old cafes scattered around (although you have to walk around to find the gems -part of the fun- or search google maps for ‘cafe’ once you arrive at Tanimachi 6-chome station).

Not just this tiny shop, but rather this small street near Osaka/Umeda station where you can pick up very old books, postcards and knickknacks that you might find interesting.
